The Penn Trafford Basketball Association (PTBA) aims to teach young players the fundamental skills necessary to become good basketball players and to help them develop the work habits, sportsmanship, and commitment necessary to succeed at higher levels. We offer both a competitive and recreational program that promote basketball through games, practices, and coaching.
The association is a non-profit organization, relying upon volunteers for its organization and duties. The PTBA is committed to providing a safe environment for our players. All coaches and assistants are required to provide the necessary background clearances to the board before the season begins.
Students in grades 3-12, who reside in the Penn-Trafford School District, are eligible to register. Enrollment in the Penn-Trafford School District is not required. The PTBA values every player who participates in the program and recognizes that they are people first and players second. Teams are drafted and balanced within the "in-house" program as much as possible. Equal playing time is also given to players, unless there is a health reason or disciplinary reason that has been discussed between the coach and the parent/guardian before the start of the game. The PTBA Travel program is designed to offer those children with above average talent an opportunity to compete at a higher level of competitive play against other Travel programs in and outside of our area. Tryouts for the travel program will be announced at a later date.
